The Rangers took a first-period lead, which they doubled early in the second. Down 2-0, the Hawks started applying pressure and Hull was credited with a goal that went off his skate midway through the second period. Soon after, Bobby's brother Dennis Hull got the game-tying goal. At 16:51of the second period, Bobby Hull scored his second of the game, his milestone 500th NHL goal. He became the third NHL player to score 500 career goals, behind Detroits' Gordie Howe and Maurice “Rocket” Richard.
