scored his second hat trick as a Panther, the 11th of his career, before aggravating a knee injury and leaving the game after the second intermission. At the time, the Panthers had a 4 goal lead on the Avalanche.

The Avalanche scored 6 goals in the third period in a huge comeback to win the game 7-5.

“I've never seen anything like this,” said coach Terry Murray after addressing the team for 10 minutes. “It's the biggest meltdown I've ever seen. It was an absolute, total embarrassment.”

Superstar Peter Forsberg took over with six points, including two of his three goals and five of his points in the final period.

“Forsberg took it upon himself to win the game,” Murray said.
