On this day in hockey history, February 18th 1918, the Montreal Canadiens shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs. Goaltender Georges Vézina recorded the first shutout in NHL history as the Habs cruised to a 9-0 victory, Today the Vezina Trophy, named in his honor, is awarded to the league's best goaltender.
