Maroons and Rangers Agree On Joe Miller to Guard Nets In Remaining Games of Series

Noted Ottawa Athlete to Wear Ranger Uniform and Pads Against Maroons Tonight. Played Part of the Season With N.Y. Americans, Finishing With Niagara Falls in Canadian-Professional League. Rangers Are Confident of Repeating Victory of Saturday Night.

MONTREAL. April 9 — Joe Miller, relief goalkeeper of the National Hockey League, will replace the Injured Lorne Chabot in the nets for the New York dangers In the third of the series of Stanley Cup games against the Montreal Maroons at the Forum tomorrow night. Miller, down from his home in Ottawa, will go through a light practice with the New York team tomorrow morning to fit himself as far as possible into the system of the champions of the United States section.

Decision to use the Ottawa athlete In the Ranger net for the balance of the series was reached at a meeting today between leaders of the two contending clubs and President Frank Calder, of the NHL. Miller, however, being allowed to remain at Niagara Falls, but on the understanding hat he would be available as a relief coalkeeper in the N.H.L. if his services were required.

Miller was also laid low by a hard-driven shot in one of his last games on local Ice. the puck striking him near the right eye. Miller, though wanting to return to the fray after a short rest, was kept out for the balance of the game. Just as Lester Patrick rose to the heights as a relief for Chabot Saturday, so In that game tn which Miller was Injured. Normie Himes, crafty American center, earned the plaudits of the crowd for his plucky display against the Canadian sharpshooters.
